Land Acknowledgement
Land Acknowledgment
Bee Well Hive NFP is headquartered within the ancestral homelands of the Okwanuchu, Shasta, Modoc, Wintʰu• Po•m (Northern Wintu), Winnimem Wintu, Nom Ti Pom Wintu, Ajumawi, and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. These are the people who live and have lived here since time immemorial.
We acknowledge the forced displacement, the genocide sponsored by the State of California beginning in 1846 through 1873, and the ongoing challenges faced by these communities and other Indigenous peoples. We commit to fostering deeper understanding and respectful engagement with remaining local Tribal communities. We acknowledge the value of the culture, and wisdom of these lands that the local indigenous people carry through their members and in their ancestry. We give much gratitude for their past and ongoing stewardship of these lands. We intend to be a collaborative, supportive partner when opportunities arise.
We encourage you to learn about the land you reside on, and to join us in advocating for the inherent sovereignty of Indigenous people.
